Home > Our Services > Pets & Other Animals > Magpies
Magpie swooping usually occurs during the mating season in spring.
Magpies are a native bird and therefore protected by law. This means the Council cannot intervene in any incidents involving swooping magpies.
Some ways to reduce the chance of being swooped include:
- wearing a hat
- putting sunglasses on the back of the hat
- carrying an umbrella.
